Transportation
For family members flying into Charlotte, Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) is approximately 8 miles from the Hyatt House Charlotte Center City, with an average drive of about 15 minutes, depending on traffic.
Taxi and rideshare services are readily available at the airport, with an estimated travel time of 15 minutes and fares generally around $35–$45.
For those who prefer public transportation, the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) Route 5 bus provides service from Charlotte Douglas International Airport to the Uptown Transit Center in approximately 26–28 minutes. From there, the Hyatt House Charlotte Center City is a short walk or ride away.
Those driving to the reunion will find the hotel conveniently located in Uptown Charlotte at 435 E. Trade Street, with easy access to major highways and many of the attractions, restaurants, and activities planned for reunion week.
Accommodations
The Hyatt House Charlotte Center City will serve as the host hotel for the 72nd Smith Family Reunion. All reunion room types include a complimentary full breakfast and free Wi-Fi, making it easy for families to stay comfortable throughout the week.
Several room options are available at special Smith Family Reunion rates:

1 Bedroom King Suite – $175 per night
Includes 1 King bed, a full kitchen, approximately 500 square feet of space, and a separate bedroom with a door dividing it from the living area. -
Deluxe Studio with 1 King Bed & Sofa Bed – $140 per night
Includes 1 King bed, 1 Double sofa bed, approximately 350 square feet, and a full kitchen. This room has an open layout with no door separating the sleeping and living areas. Connecting-room options may also be available. -
Standard Room with 2 Queen Beds – $140 per night
Includes 2 Queen beds, approximately 350 square feet, a microwave, and a mini refrigerator. This room does not include a full kitchen but may connect to a Deluxe Studio, making it a great option for larger families who would like additional space.
The Hyatt House offers a variety of amenities, including a fitness center, laundry facilities, meeting spaces, restaurant, heated outdoor pool on the 7th floor, daily housekeeping, complimentary cribs, coffee and tea makers, microwaves, refrigerators, HDTVs, and more. Accessible and connecting rooms are also available.
Please note that the Hyatt House does not offer self-parking. Valet parking is required. While the normal valet rate is approximately $42 per night, a special reunion rate of $15 per day with in-and-out privileges has been negotiated for our group.

Jeannie, our beloved family member, is a proud veteran whose life has been defined by service, compassion, and giving back. From participating in an Honor Flight to volunteering in her community, she continues to make a positive impact wherever she goes.
Glenn brings his own remarkable legacy as a distinguished member of the African American Golfers Hall of Fame, recognized for both his achievements in the sport and his contributions to the community.
Together, Jeannie and Glenn begin this beautiful new chapter built on love, service, and shared purpose. We couldn't be happier for them as they embark on this journey together.
